Six Conservative Misconceptions About libertarianism
1. Anarchy and anti-Police and Military.
Libertarianism is not a synonym for anarchy. Under libertarianism, you can still have Law, Courts, Law Enforcement, Military, and more.
Larry Elder and Sean Fitzgerald/Actual Justice Warrior are a couple of notable pro-police libertarians. Fitzgerald even argued for qualified immunity (I myself disagree with qualified immunity, just saying).
Brad debates Actual Justice Warrior on qualified immunity & bail reform
Even the movies Demolition Man and Hot Fuzz demonstrate that being libertarian does not mean being anti-police. More on those two later.
Anyways, being a libertarian doesn’t mean you can’t be tough on crime, for example, preferring Nayib Bukele over MS-13 and Barrio 18 gangs, as in the case of Sean Fitzgerald/Actual Justice Warrior.

Estonia and Switzerland, a couple of the most libertarian countries in the world, have conscription.
(Military service in Estonia is worth it)
(National Service in Review: The Swiss Conscription Model)
(The guys in the above pictures don’t look like a clowder of libertine degenerates to me. Then again, I’m not one of those guys that who believe that you need a square jawline to be a man (physiognomist, red/black-piller).)
In 2023/2024, libertarian New Hampshire supported Texas’ border security activities (Operation Lone Star), sending 15 New Hampshire National Guard Soldiers and Airmen to Texas.
-
It’s even possible to be a nationalist as a libertarian. Listen to N of 1, “the nationalist case for libertarianism“, and “the libertarian case for nationalism“.
2. Absolute Individualism and Libertinism/Lack of Social Standards.
-
Freedom of association doesn’t mean that you can’t associate and work with other people, it simply means that you’re free to choose who to associate and work with.
Libertarianism is not Libertinism. It’s totally possible to be Socially Conservative within your own personal life and community. You, your family, friends, and community can pledge to stay away from vices without getting daddy government involved. And it’s also possible to criticize and shame people.
Hans-Hermann Hoppe, who has a cult following among libertarians and is certainly extremely socially conservative himself, has talked exactly about this kind of thing with ‘covenant communities’.
Clarifying the "Physical Removal" Concept
-
An example of being conservative in your personal life but libertarian in social policy is Poland. Poland has a reputation for being a conservative Catholic country, but prostitution is legal (though brothels aren’t). Polish government schools do not have uniforms, and most government schools do not even have an (enforced) dress code from what I’ve read. I think the reason why American school districts have stricter enforced dress codes or uniforms or why most States completely ban prostitution is because of America’s Puritan heritage (Thomas Sowell mentioned in his book “Black Rednecks and White Liberals“, that Puritans ran much of the education in the Reconstruction era American South).
Another example of a libertarian-conservative place is Utah;
-
I’d actually argue that a market economy would benefit low-time-preference conservative cultures, such as Mormons and Asians (which Thomas Sowell, along with Michael and Simone Collins, talked about). So the problem of the degenerates breeding will eventually solve itself.
Also, Richard Hanania and Dave Smith have talked about how Social Justice/Wokeness was not a creation of the market and social freedom, but rather, government-created non-productive bureaucracy and government-funded academia.

Continued, just because one supports a market economy does not mean that they agree with every decision a corporation or business makes. For example, one can be a libertarian and support right to repair and the use of free and open source software.
Similarly, being a libertarian doesn’t mean that one can’t support good urbanism (or at least walkable cities). For example, Freedom Alternative/Lucian Valsan supports walkable cities and called North American (actually Anglophone) car-dependent cities dystopian, which you know is bad, considering how he survived Ceaușescu’s Romania (Depressing factors - Demographics and fertility - Part Two,Hypotheses and policy - Demographics and fertility - Part Three).
(I mentioned this last part since I’ve been hearing younger right-wingers complain about car dependency. Black Pigeon Speaks has been talking about this since 2016.)
-
Oh and by the way, I keep hearing social conservatives talk about the ‘common good‘ and policing things like what consenting adults do in the bedroom. I really recommend watching the movies Demolition Man and Hot Fuzz. Two of the below videos are by Carl Benjamin or Dave Cullen, by the way.

3. Accepting Pedophilia/Hebephilia, Abortion, and Transitioning children.
This one is just fucking absurd. Of course libertarians are against having sex (and pornography) with children and young teens, and against allowing minors to undergo sex changes.
Ryan Dawson has done a better job than literally anyone else when it comes to exposing Jeffrey Epstein and child and human sex trafficking in general.

Dawson has also made a video called "Is Transgender sexist?", along with other videos. Freedom Alternative/Lucian Valsan, Styxhexenhammer666 & Yaron Brook, all atheist libertarians, have criticized transgenderism or things related to transgenderism.
Joe Rogan, an agnostic, along with classical liberal ShortFatOtaku and libertarian John Stossel, have all criticized biological men in women’s sports.

If you want to argue against abortion, I suggest using philosophy like My 2 Cents did with his video series & playlist
Dave Smith is not a Christian (he’s Jewish, but I think he is a non-practicing Jew), & he’s made some pretty good arguments against abortion;

Open Borders, Unlimited Immigration, and Protectionism.
It’s possible to be a libertarian and oppose open borders and unlimited immigration. A few notable examples are Maxime Bernier and the the People’s Party of Canada (thanks to the commenter Found The Light for pointing this out), Javier Milei, Seamus Coughlin, Freedom Alternative/Lucian Valsan, Rudyard Lynch/WhatIfAltHist, Ryan Dawson, and Styxhexenhammer666.
Estonia, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland are all fairly libertarian countries, but they all have little immigration. Poland, a comparatively large country, does not have third-world mass migration that many right-wingers complain about.
As mentioned before, in 2023/2024, even libertarian New Hampshire supported Texas’ border security activities (Operation Lone Star), sending 15 New Hampshire National Guard Soldiers and Airmen to Texas.
When it comes to protectionism, Rudyard Lynch/WhatIfAltHist and Nicholas Pardini (Analysing Finance with Nick) have both talked about the benefits of protectionism.

Nihilism.
Meaning doesn’t come pre-packaged in libertarianism. You’re supposed to bring your own meaning.
Critics Say, "You Libertarians Are Soulless Materialists"
It’s like the job of your doctor is to keep you healthy, which is a different job from from finding happiness.
Alternately, this is like buying a flattop AR-pattern rifle and then complaining that it doesn’t have sights.
Pacifism, Isolationism, and Non-interventionism.
Boy oh boy, this one is going to be controversial, and rightfully so.
I run AntiWar Substack. As someone who is very critical of the United States’ support of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the Military-Industrial Complex’s influence, I’m no longer a strict non-interventionist, if I ever was one.
Short answer, no, you do not need to be a strict-non interventionist or isolationist.

“5. and 6. American libertarians have a bias, taking for granted the absence of organized external enemies. Historically, survival has been a collective effort, not an individual one.
How can living under the bubble of the most powerful military to have ever existed not create a bias? The bias of American libertarians takes for granted the absence of well organized outside enemies. Most American analysis considers only disorganized bandits and the state itself.
The world looks much different, say, on the edge of the steppe where powerful, organized actors, from the Mongol hordes, to the Bolshevik ones, to the persistent, corrupting pressure and violence of Russian intelligence, have been a far greater threat than the state or lone bandits.
Though many optimistic libertarian prose have lauded asymmetric war and voluntary security, the jury is still out. The people not making the argument about the military superiority of voluntary coalitions are the ones who do the actual fighting.
Besides, if voluntary coalitions were militarily superior, wouldn’t states have ceased to exist long ago? Wouldn’t the German principalities have defeated Napoleon, wouldn’t the Qin dynasty’s unification and bureaucratization of China have failed against the aristocratic, more voluntary coalitions they displaced?”

Are you straw-manning because you don’t know your opponents positions?
Or are you trying to justify your sense of superiority over your opponents? Which is the worst sin, as that Pride is the worst sin (and wishing to crush your opponents is Wrath, also a sin).

Very good points, my friend, and I would just like to add the People's Party of Canada, led by Maxime Bernier, a dissident of the Conservative Party. The PPC is relatively libertarian but is strongly against mass migration.
The last issue is that the term "pedophilia" gets thrown around so much these days, much like the term "fascist" to the point where it covers anyone under 25, basically.
Basically, any man these days who wants a lady under age 25 is treated like as such, as if anyone under 25 is just an immature child.
Actual pedophiles are extremely rare and almost unheard of.
